Haiku for the Lonely-Hearted #12

Haiku for the Lonely-Hearted #12 (30 November 2015)

heart wing, folded, bent
tuck my head down for winter
waiting for your light

Amber

Amber (30 November 2015)

and how do I call you back to me
the way the moon
calls the ocean
each night?
how do I take hold
and negotiate
our gravities?

how do I surrender
to the loss
of your name
how do I call you
back to bed
when your name
on my tongue
is forbidden?

I trace the outline
of where your face
used to rest
in the moonlight

wonder
how to tame this
beautiful disaster
how to undo the wrongs
but all those wrongs
is sort of like
trying to count
all the stars in the sky
otherwise known
as
impossible

what is your name now?
how do I call for you?

if I say it aloud,
say you are missing from me,
to the silence
does it even matter?

winter creeps in
under my door
and the draft
settles deep down
in my chest
against the piece
of amber
that piece of you
left around my neck

do you remember
the hush, the music swelling?
meet me there again

Sunrise Over the Mountain

Sunrise Over the Mountain (24 November 2015)

what use is this body
if it cannot align
with yours?

what is the point of
my heart beat
here
if it is not in rhythm
with yours?

if you are not with me
where do my hands go?

what use is this fire
burning against the winter
if you are not warmed?

what use is this bed
if you do not sleep
next to me?

what use is the morning
if you are not there
to watch the sunrise
over the mountain
with me?

the same wish as every day
I wish you were here

a refuge from this snow storm
take shelter in me

Haiku for the Lonely-Hearted #7

Haiku for the Lonely-Hearted #7 (22 November 2015)

all of my poems,
the words are just metaphors

his heart beats a new rhythm
